Birth Control Pill Brand/Hormone Chart

While reading this chart, it is good to keep in mind that you cannot establish which pills are high or low-dose hormones simply from the figures.  Each different progestin (for instance, drospirenone or levonorgestrel) has a different potency level, and so more or less of it could be required to create the same hormonal effect.

This chart will help you determine what type of pill you are on, and whether it is combination or one-hormone, and whether it is multiphasic or monophasic.  See our birth control pill page or our glossary if you need these terms explained.

Not every brand of birth control is featured on this chart.  This chart contains many of the better known brands.  There are, of course, alternatives with the same formulation available.  For more information, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
