The Patch’s Staying Power

Many women worry that the Patch will not stick on their bodies.  In clinical studies, however, less than 3% of the Patches had to be reapplied.  To make sure that your patch will stay, make sure that it is applied to the proper are of your body (your upper torso but not breasts, your upper outer arm, your abdomen, or your buttocks).

You can use the Patch while you swim, shower, or bathe.  Excessive humidity, from saunas or working out, also does not affect the Patch’s ability to stick.

If you do notice that your patch has fallen off, you can try to reapply it if it is not stuck on another object.  Simply place another patch on, and if this is within 24 hours, your birth control will still be effective.  Your doctor will prescribe you an extra in this unlikely situation.  Some doctors prescribe an extra month just to be cautious.

When applying or reapplying a patch, push it onto your skin for ten seconds, then run your fingers along the edge of the Patch to make sure that it is entirely in place.

Don’t move your patch midweek as it may be less adhesive.  Wait until your new patch to pick a new location.
