Standard Days Method

The Standard Days Method tells you that you are at your most fertile during days 8 through 19 of your cycle.

You can chart your cycle yourself and abstain from Standard Days, or you can use Cycle Beads.

Cycle beads are a part of the Standard Days method, which was developed at Georgetown University.  The Cycle Beads method identifies a twelve-day window where women have to abstain from sex, or choose to use alternate methods of birth control during this time.

With Cycle Beads, you simply move an elastic from one bead to the next (following the arrows).  There is one red bead where you place the elastic when you begin your period.

Cycle Beads are not recommended for women who have a menstrual cycle of less than 26 days, or more than 32 days.  They must be used by women who have regular periods when they are not on hormones.

Like all methods of fertility awareness based birth control, cycle beads do not protect against sexually transmitted disease or infections.

You can get a professional consultation to help you understand Standard Days.
